An Elegua maraca, also known as a “sonaja de Elegua,” is a sacred ritual instrument used in Santería, Ifá, and Lucumí traditions to invoke Elegua (also spelled Elegguá or Eshu), the Orisha of crossroads, destiny, and protection. This maraca is  handcrafted with red and black colors, adorned with cowrie shells, beads, and sometimes gold accents, embodying Elegua’s dual nature and his role as the guardian of paths and choices.
